Disabled veteran says he's sickened by Katy Perry's Blue Origin antics (2025)

A disabled veteran's son is slamming Katy Perry's recent ascent into space on Blue Origin's all-female flight as his father battles the pop star in a bitter ongoing property battle.

Perry joined journalist Gayle King, Jeff Bezos's wife Lauren Sanchez, film producer Kerianne Flynn, aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, and astronaut Amanda Nguyen for a historic all-female flight to space.

The six-member crew boarded the New Shepard launch vehicle and landed safely after about 11 minutes above Earth.

The mission has generated significant backlash, and among the critics is Chart Westcott, the son of a disabled veteran who has been involved in a property dispute with the pop star.

'Congratulations, @katyperry. Welcome back to Earth where you must still testify for your actions against my father, pushing an old disabled US army veteran from his home,' Chart wrote on X.

In a separate tweet, Chart slammed the pop star, writing, 'All the hypocritical celebrity privilege in the world will not absolve you of a subpoena to testify, @katyperry. See you in court.'

Chart also spoke to the New York Postand questioned Perry's authenticity when she told reporters that she felt 'supper connected to love' after landing back on Earth.

'I can’t help but wonder if her experience will make her more compassionate to elderly disabled veterans like my father,' Chart said.

The property dispute between Perry and Westcott began back in 2020 when Westcott agreed to sell his sprawling Montecito mansion to the pop star for a whopping $15 million.

However, just days later Westcott attempted to reverse the sale, claiming that he wasn't of sound judgment at the time due to medication he was taking after back surgery.

Westcott's attorneys argued that the contract he signed turning over his property was 'voidable' due to his mental state.

The dispute seemed to be nearing an end in December 2023 when a Los Angeles judge ruled that Perry was the rightful owner of the estate.

However, the legal troubles didn't end there, as Perry turned around and sued for $6 million in damages to the home and back rent.

Carl Westcott is a retired US Army veteran and successful entrepreneur. He has Huntington's, a disease that impacts nerve cells and can lead to movement, cognitive, and psychiatric issues.

The disease has significantly impaired his daily movement and he's been confined to his bed for over a year.

Carl's daughter-in-law, Kameron Westcott, who also stars on the Real Housewives of Dallas, spoke to DailyMail.com in February about the toll the property dispute has had on her family.

'We want to focus on my father-in-law's health. We want to be with him and have the last few days peaceful. This is the last thing we want to deal with,' she said.

'It's heartbreaking that someone can be so greedy, and it's heartbreaking that someone has no heart. I mean, I hope this never happens to her parents,' Kameron added.

The RHOD star said her father-in-law loved the Montecito home and never wanted to sell it to Perry and Bloom.

'He wanted to be at rest in the place that he loves, and that's his favorite place,' she said. 'He wanted to be at peace and have his family around, and we wanted to fill those wishes for him. That's why we decided to fight for him and protect him.'

Kameron shared that the family has now moved the veteran into a memory care facility while her husband, Court, and Chart continue fighting the legal battle.

The Westcotts have been vocal about the legal dispute, and Chart even wrote a letter to Prince Harry asking him to remove Perry from the lineup for a performance at the Invictus Games.

Prince Harry founded the games to support wounded veteransand give them a platform to compete after serving their country.

Chart wrote a scathing letter to the prince, which read in part,'While Ms. Perry's participation may be seen as a gesture of support for veterans, her relentless pursuit of our father in court tells a different story — one that deeply undermines the values the Games stand for.'

Despite the letter, Perry performed at the Invictus Games on February 8.

The pop star is set to appear at a trial in August where she will have to provide evidence that the damages to the home total $6 million.

Chart told The Post that he's glad Perry 'made it back safe' and looks forward to her testimony over the summer.

He added that he hopes she will 'be held accountable for her actions' against his family.
