How hard is Florida state to get into? ›

The acceptance rate at FSU is 25%.

This means the school is very selective. If you meet FSU's requirements for GPA, SAT/ACT scores, and other components of the application, you have a great shot at getting in.

Based on these numbers, UF is generally harder to get into as compared to FSU due to its lower acceptance rate. However, it's important to remember that admissions are determined holistically, taking into account various factors such as your grades, test scores (if provided), extracurriculars, and essays.

GPA Requirement

Students must earn a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) college grade point average in your fall classes with no grade below C. If you take classes in the summer, your college GPA for that term must also be 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) with no grade below C.

In recent years, FSU admissions has reported record numbers of applicants (a 157% increase since 2016). This increase may result in the following: Higher average Florida State SAT scores. A lower Florida State University acceptance rate.

Students admitted for Fall 2023 had an average core GPA of 4.4, (4.3 – 4.6 middle 50th), an ACT composite score of 31 (29 – 32 middle 50th), and an SAT total score of 1370 (1310 – 1430 middle 50th). Seventy-six percent of the admitted students earned all A & B grades in a rigorous academic curriculum.

Any time a student's FSU cumulative GPA (not including transfer credits) falls below 2.0, the student will have a designation of “Academic Probation” placed on their transcript and the student will be placed on academic probation for their next term of enrollment at FSU.

The state minimum requirements for Lower Division applicants can be found here, however, UF's standards for admissions are significantly higher than the state minimums. Generally, we are looking for applicants with over a 3.0 High School GPA and over a 3.0 College GPA.
