ByteByteGo shares a diagram that showcases the top 4 Kubernetes Service types. In Kubernetes, a Service is a way to expose a network application in the cluster. By using a Service, a set of Pods become available on the network for users to interact with. The four types of Kubernetes services are ClusterIP, NodePort, LoadBalancer, and ExternalName. The "type" property in the Service's specification determines how the service is exposed to the network. ClusterIP is the default and most common service type. Kubernetes assigns a cluster-internal IP address to ClusterIP service, making it only reachable within the cluster. NodePort exposes the service outside of the cluster by adding a cluster-wide port on top of ClusterIP. LoadBalancer exposes the Service externally using a cloud provider's load balancer. ExternalName maps a Service to a domain name and is commonly used to create a Service within Kubernetes to represent an external database.#kubernetes #kubernetescluster

How do you choose the best instance type for your Kubernetes cluster? When using an 8 GB/2vCPU instance, are all the memory and CPU available to pods? The Kubernetes instance calculator answers those questions and a lot more! https://lnkd.in/g3yd96mjThis is what you can do:💰 Estimate costs for your workloads based on requests and instance sizes.🔝 Explore instance overcommitment and efficiency.📈 Identify over and underspending by model error rates on your actual memory and CPU usage.⚖️ Compare instances between different cloud providers. You can find the Kubernetes instance calculator here: https://lnkd.in/g3yd96mjThe calculator can estimate an instance size but doesn't have access to runtime performance. If your goal is to estimate usage based on actual metrics, you should check out the sponsor of this calculator: PerfectScale https://lnkd.in/g_zEfbjWFinally, Daniele, an instructor at Learnk8s, runs a webinar this Thursday to give you a hands-on tour of its features.
