I recently dined at Chinatown Barbecue in Vancouver, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish! Our waiter was outstanding, providing detailed explanations of the menu and helping us navigate the delicious options.I ordered the duck and roasted pork, which were served on a bed of fluffy white rice. The roasted pork was a standout; it had a perfectly crispy exterior that added an amazing crunch, while the flavor was simply out of this world. The duck was exceptionally juicy and uniquely flavored, making every bite a delight. My husband tried the soy chicken and barbecue pork, and both dishes were equally delicious. Each plate was a celebration of authentic flavors that left us wanting more.Overall, Chinatown Barbecue offers an unforgettable dining experience with fantastic service and mouthwatering dishes. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu!

Absolutely disgusting! The rice was mushy but UNDERCOOKED. There were pieces of RAW RICE in my order. I would give -5 stars if I could. The meat was dry and had way too much fat. Worst Chinese BBQ I've had in my life. I would give -5 stars if I could. Very disappointed.

Service and food were fabulous. Someone was popping by to top up tea, we got a great run down of the menu, food came quickly, and the meal was delicious. Highly recommend and we’ll be back.We got the 3 Meat platter with Roasted Rack of of Crispy Pork, Duck, BBQ Pork. All great. But the crispy was a stand out. Second dish was the special, BBQ pork fried rice. It was enough for two people.

A real gem in historic Chinatown. This place specializes in Cantonese style roast meats. It’s roast pork is some of the best on the west coast. Skin is crispy and the pork is super juicy and succulent. The soy sauce chicken is also a winner. Decor has a 70’s motif - quaint and reminiscent of the early immigrant experience. It’s like a Time Machine!Lunch seems to be the best best time to visit when the menu is replenished.

Our server was so nice and really attentive to our needs and mostly the food was really great highly recommend the crispy pork!! and the serving was fast too. The ambience was nice and clean it feels like your in modern hongkong style restaurant and their washroom was very clean.

Absolutely my favorite Chinese BBQ restaurant! Tried most of their items on the menu, love their siu yuk and curry! Their soup is really soothing for a bad day as well. Bobby is really friendly and all of them give out good service ❤️

Five stars across the board for Chinatown BBQ. We were greeted enthusiastically as we entered the restaurant and the waiter was very patient as we decided what to order. Though the menu is small, it was difficult to narrow it down to 2 or 3 dishes for the two of us. Finally decided on roasted rack of crispy pork + soy sauce chicken platter and curried beef brisket. chicken was moist and flavourful, but the pork and brisket we fantastic. The pork was meaty, not too fatty and had a lovely crispy skin. The brisket was fork tender while having a distinct but mild curry spiciness. Ambience, as has been mentioned by others, has a cool kind of retro vibe, very reminiscent of 1970s Chinatown restaurants.

We were traveling in Vancouver and wanted to eat original Chinese BBQ and this restaurant popped up on my Google Search so we decided to give it a try. First of all, the Chinatown in Vancouver is a bit scary so it’s unfortunate that this restaurant is located there. When we went inside, we were welcomed by the host. The restaurant looks like other traditional Chinese restaurants, yet, it’s clean. Looking at the menu and I was a bit confused because my lack of knowledge—I ordered two-meat plate and I want one BBQ pork and one Crispy BBQ pork. Instead of ordering the roasted pork which is the crispy one, I ordered Hong Kong Style BBQ. The server probably knew and without me asking, spent time explaining to me that the BBQ and HK BBQ are very similar just one is sweeter. Then she accommodate and changed our order to what we wanted. The time came that the food arrive and my table went silent since everybody was busy eating. Both of the BBQ pork were tasty and juicy. The duck was also great—full of meat, not too many bones. Even the stir-fried lettuce was perfect to cut down the greasy flavor of the meat. It didn’t take long for us to finish every dish we ordered and pay. The price was reasonable (even on the cheaper side). My old parents are still talking about this BBQ place several weeks after we came back from our trip. Highly recommend (just maybe don’t walk there)

Just discovered this little gem recently! Food is very tasty, the portions are good and the prices very reasonable! Equally important, the service is lovely and very fast-such nice people who work there! We love the atmosphere they’ve set up! The restaurant is also very neat and clean. Highly recommended!

Cute spot in Chinatown - retro diner meets Chinese restaurant! We came less than an hour before closing and while that meant they were out of BBQ duck, the soy chicken, vegetable fried rice and Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce did NOT disappoint. The chicken was so delicious and tender and the skin packed a lot of flavour. A great addition was the ginger and scallion side sauce provided for the chicken. The service was very fast and very friendly. Would highly recommend visiting for a meal!

An absolutely delicious plate of food, the Three Treasures gave us the perfect sampling of what Chinatown BBQ has to offer. The flavors were hearty and well-balanced. The service is a cut above the rest here; they educate you about the menu items and are very friendly and accommodating.

Greeted by a roast rack packed to the brim with finely cooked Chinese BBQ within a clean, old Chinatown themed experience. This is the most authentic BBQ within Vancouver’s Chinatown. They do not go overboard on the seasoning and salt, allowing the natural flavors of the meat to shine. It is still imperative to pair the BBQ with a neutral side dish, such as rice or noodles to complete this experience.

We had to check out the Chinatown scene! As someone visiting from Chinatown in the south, we needed authentic Chinese food before we boarded a 7 day cruise. This place did not disappoint and dare I say, it was our best meal in Vancouver and on our vacation! We got the mixed BBQ plate- and everything was cooked perfectly. The pork in Canada is better...I'm not sure why.. but it's not as salty as in the states, so the Chinese bbq pork has a more subtle sweet flavor here. I loved that they gave the ginger scallion sauce with the soy sauce chicken. Excellent salted egg that matches beautifully with well cooked rice. The tea was perfect- wonderful floral notes matches perfectly with the BBQ. We ate everything and wished for the remainder of the trip that we had ordered some food to go too! If you can, go early to avoid a wait. And, it's a great value!!!

T L — Google review

Got a BBQ duck and roasted pork over rice. Both of the meat were good but the roasted pork was my favorite. Also got the fatty BBQ pork (HK style) and it was delicious too. The scallion ginger oil was not included but charged for $1.25 for a 2 teaspoons worth, which I thought was way overpriced.Clean seatings and friendly service though for dine in.

Me and my family spotted this place while driving through Vancouver’s Chinatown and decided to try it out since we’ve been craving Chinese bbq. IT WAS SO GOOD. Definitely worth a try if you’re visiting. The food was amazing, very fresh and tasty. I recommend the crispy pork and the roasted duck. Besides the food, the service was outstanding. They put us on the waitlist as soon as we got there and we got to order in advance so the food was ready waiting for us for when we got our table. The waiters would check on us very often to make sure we were enjoying our food and we had enough tea which was also very good. Overall, 10/10 experience and I can say that it is the BEST Chinese bbq I’ve ever had. Will definitely be coming back.

This restaurant seems quite popular, especially among tourists. I used to get takeout here a long time ago. Today, it was raining heavily when I happened to pass by, so I decided to dine inside. I really liked their decor with black and white vintage photos and traditional Chinese paintings covering the walls. The tablecloths and the music playing created a nostalgic Chinese atmosphere. My server was very enthusiastic and treated me as if it were my first time eating Chinese food, giving a warm introduction. I ordered the roast duck and soy chicken rice. The duck skin was incredibly crispy, and the plum sauce that came with it was unique. Normally, I don't eat it, but the sweet and sour contrast of this plum sauce made dipping each piece of duck meat very delicious. The marination of the chicken was flavorful as well. Overall, the dining experience was very comfortable, and I plan to come back next time to try their award winning recipe curry beef brisket.Edit:I specially bought their beef curry today to take home. The beef is very tender, and the curry is very spicy and flavorful. Unfortunately, there were only three small pieces of beef, and the rest was all potatoes, not worth it at all. I don't recommend it.

One of the best Chinese duck/pork BBQ places I've had, and in a very retro-feeling store. Love all the pictures on the wall, outlining the history of Chinese immigrants in Vancouver?Service was EXCEPTIONAL (esp for a Chinese restaurant, at least comparable in California) - the main guy who heads the restaurant (on the Sunday evening we came) is super attentive and sharp. What we got: half duck portion, 2 types of pork BBQ - honey glazed and crispy, BBQ pork fried rice, Gai Lan, Jellyfish- my favorite was the Crispy pork belly followed by the duck, but table favorite seemed to be the honey glazed pork- also got the jellyfish, which was good but could have used a bit more kick! And usually prefer it to be a little smaller slicesWould DEFINITELY come back here when visiting Vancouver. It's hard to find a good sitdown specializing in this type of food in California

Very friendly staff, serving a lovely tea for a welcome which is so much better than plain water. One signature 4 treasures dish, one BBQ duck soy chicken dish, with fresh vegetables in soy sauce as a side. Dishes came with white rice. Really enjoyed it! Space is decorated with beautiful vintage embroidery Asian landscapes which add to the nice atmosphere. Thank you Bobby and Team for a great experience!

A restaurant with a traditional, historic atmosphere. Their Chinese BBQ has a lighter flavor, different from the Chinese BBQ people commonly eat nowadays. The soup of the day and their homemade sauces are very delicious. If you're near Chinatown, this is a good choice.

We visited the Chinatown BBQ restaurant during our trip to Vancouver and my oh my!! The food was delicious! We got the 2 meat combo with rice and the fried rice. The roasted pork could very well be one of the tastiest I’ve ever consumed! A must visit when you are in Vancouver.

My wife and I came here for lunch and was not disappointed at all. Service was quick, food came even quicker, and the food was to die for. I've had a lot of chinese bbq/roast meat in my life time, but you HAVE to try this place - definitely one of the best, at least in Canada. Atmosphere is nostolgic and quaint; like a throwback to a "once upon a Hong Kong diner". Overall, I highly recommend this place, its a MUST try if you're in the area and looking four some affordable, delicious chinese bbq.

We had an amazing lunch here! The bbq meats were fresh and the curry beef brisket was delicious. The servers were friendly, made suggestion on what to order and were always around to top up our tea. We can’t wait to go back.

Friends and I were visiting Vancouver and stumbled into this amazing place. Bobby was our server and knew exactly what to tell us and we ordered exactly what he said, it was spectacular. We were so full for the rest of the day, so definitely come on an empty stomach! We had a couple of beers, but definitely not necessary with the complimentary tea! The duck was fabulous, a bit boney, but spectacular. My favorite was the honey bbq pork. We ordered the chinese broccoli as a green and the crispy pork too. Both hit. If I'm ever in vancouver again, I WILL be making a stop here. Thank you Bobby!

We enjoyed our lunch in this place! Servants were really helpful and recommended most popular dishes. BBQ duck was out of this world! The price is pretty good for that amount of food and quality.

Bobby was attentive, friendly, offered dining options that really suited us well.Service was fast, food was tasty and served in a timely manner. There was no rush to leave the table even though the restaurant started getting busier. It felt like they really appreciated our business and we would gladly come back.

I had an incredible dining experience at Chinatown BBQ in Vancouver's Chinatown! The pork and duck platter was absolutely delicious. The pork was tender and flavorful, with perfectly crispy skin, while the duck was succulent and rich. The portion size was generous, and the presentation was mouth-watering.The staff were friendly and efficient, making sure we had everything we needed. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, with a traditional yet modern touch. It's clear they take pride in their food and service.I highly recommend Chinatown BBQ if you're a fan of authentic, high-quality Chinese barbecue. I'll definitely be coming back for more!

We dined here on Christmas Eve and had a really enjoyable time. The owner made excellent recommendations and was super friendly. We had the curry which was 10/10 and the three different kinds of pork. The pork belly was too fatty for our preference but everything else was delicious. The tea also is amazing :)

My fiancé and I decided to walk-in and grab 1 dish to share. Although we did get strange looks from the staff, we didn't care because we just came from Ontario and wanted to try everything! As someone from Toronto, I will say I think I prefer the BBQ in Toronto than here but I'm also not sure if it's the dish we grabbed. We did the Two BBQ Meats on Steamed Rice combo selecting BBQ Pork and Duck. I will say meat to rice ratio, usually I'd like more meat than rice but I did think we needed more rice for such high sodium meats.Glad I went but I'm not sure I'd return since I do prefer similar BBQ spots in Ontario.

My wife and I have come here twice on two separate trips and we were 110% satisfied both times!I would personally recommend the bbq pork and crispy roast pork combo plate, with the crispy pork being a particular highlight of mine. The gai lan makes for an excellent side to split, but may be a bit much for just one person. Everything is reasonably priced so you're guaranteed to get good value!

As a regular consumer of various Chinese BBQ places, the food here is as good as any Chinese BBQ place. Generous portions of Chinese BBQ pork, roast pork, and duck are what you can expect from this classic location. What really takes this place over the top is the service and atmosphere. The interior is reminiscent of old diner style decor, a warm and welcoming sight. But more than anything, the service was top notch. Our server was very friendly and attentive and gave us great recommendations.Would definitely recommend this to anyone in the area!

I come here once a while since they opened because nowadays in China Town not much to choose.I ordered BBQ duck and Roasted pork with noodle, the duck tasted okay the pork no taste and the noodle too soft and the soup like water I need to add soy sauce with chili to eat it.The staff not friendly but efficient. The price reasonable and size normal.Remember in China Town is hard to find parking.

Absolutely this is one of the best resteraunt experiences I have had in the area in the last 3 years of living here. Excellent food, service and historical location with part of China towns history in memorabilia on display. Very cool!

What’s can I say? This place is incredible, food was excellent. Service was on point, they didn’t have happy hour beer of choice so he easily subbed it no problem.Bobby explained the menu perfectly, attentive, brought us to go boxes without having to ask. 10/10 service better than any restaurant I’ve been to in the last 2 years.

Great friendly service, very tasty BBQ meats, enjoyable atmosphere, beautiful decor, and clean. Service available in Chinese or English.I ordered the mixed plate of BBQ meats with a side of Gailan. So I got to try all the different types of BBQ meats. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Went here for lunch with my family and let me just say this was an incredible spot to go to. What we got was the plate of roasted rack of crispy pork, the two bbq meat of duck and crispy pork and Gai Lan with garlic oil. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious, the pork being the star of the show had a nice crunch with the fat literally melting in your mouth. These dishes ARE quite heavy so I suggest going when you haven't eaten anything. When it comes to the service, its a 5 out of 5, they will make sure your drink is not empty at all, very friendly staff and there is not a long wait for food.

5 stars each and every time. Next door to New Town, this place has the best PNW duck. Feels like a family with small tables and authentic food. Beef Curry is the Best We ever had, the level of turmeric is a chef kiss. They welcomed me and even protected my laptop and provided energy so I can work work work to eat eat eat! Will be back and come back every time.

The food is exquisite, super good, the meat is flavourful to the bone, well priced and the portion is big enough for 2. Highly recommend the bbq duck. But the waiter gave us our receipt so fast and there was no one there. Felt rushed and wanted us to eat faster. Not really pleasant with the service i might say. The ambiance is so charming and super traditional. Recommend for the food!

This restaurant is the whole package, decent meal, excellent service, historic layout, and clean washroom even the location is old. The highlight is complimentary black tea. The rice is too soggy for me, and the soy sauce makes them even mushy. maybe I should’ve ordered jasmine rice; otherwise, everything is perfect.

Elephant B — Google review

I heard the Chinese food scene in Vancouver is poppin, so we decided to check this place out for some Chinese BBQ. We came in at around 12 PM on a Tuesday and it was pretty busy with both dine-in and takeout orders. My husband and I shared a plate - the BBQ pork, soy sauce chicken, roasted pork, and 1/2 salty duck egg over rice. We also had and order of the curry fish balls, which was on special that day. Everything was good. This is a good dish to order if you are just wanted to try all the meats. We weren't that full with what we had. I would say one of these plates would be a little too much for one person, but it's also just not enough for two people. Adding an extra meat would probably have been the perfect amount. We should have also ordered some duck, and then it would have been complete.Overall, it was less oily than those of NYC's Chinatown, so that was a nice perk. In comparison, it is a bit more expensive than NYC, but I didn't really see a whole lot of good options for Chinese BBQ in the area. And unlike NYC, the service here was friendly (and quick). It's a good spot if you're looking for a quick sit down lunch spot.
