What do the Kidney point, lymphatic drainage point, and the ovary/testes and womb/prostate reflexology points have in common?
It almost sounds like a riddle or the beginning of an unusual joke: A Kidney point, lymphatic drainage point, ovary/testes point and a womb/prostate point walk into a bar…
What these four points have in common is that they are thetop four Chinese Reflexology points for sensitivity. If I made a list of the top reflexology points that are most likely to be extremely sensitive for the majority of people, I would put these four points at the top of the list.
Why are these reflexology points so sensitive?
The Kidney point is sensitivebecause people do too much. They’re always on the go, always busy, or they’re giving away their energy to others without making time for themselves. This drains their qi or life force. As a result, because the Kidneys act like a battery for storing one’s life force energy, doing too much can drain them.
If the energy battery is not recharged and becomes depleted, that results in sensitive Kidney points. Prolonged depletion of energy is also at the root of the vast majority of chronic diseases.
The lymphatic drainage point is sensitivebecause in order for lymph to flow through your body, you need to physically move your body. Modern lifestyles are much too sedentary, and there isn’t a pump for the lymphatic system like how the heart moves blood through your circulatory system.
From a mind-body perspective, problems with thelymphatic systemare associated with failing to focus on what matters in life: love and joy. When life feels purposeless or when one is feeling stuck, is there love and joy? More importantly, is there movement?
So why are the reproductive points often extremely sensitive for people even when there are no physical issues?
Generally, there are three main reasons related to the mind body connection:
- An imbalance between masculine and feminine energies in one’s life
- Repressed emotions related to previous relationships and/or sexuality. If one has had negative experiences in these areas of their life, they may hold negative energy in the reproductive region of their body.
- The body is often a microcosm for what’s going on in one’s life. In this case, the reproductive points represent creative energy: the birthing of life.
It doesn’t have to literally be about giving birth to a baby. But it can be related to NOT giving birth to your ideas, NOT allowing creative expression in your life, or NOT allowing yourself the freedom to share your voice, or to pursue a purpose that brings you joy.
And that’s another way that the Kidneys, lymphatic drainage point, and reproductive points are related.
If you look at these points from a big picture view, they’re related to being the “adult” in the room where you’re taking care of others, being responsible, and not doing the things that feed your heart and soul, or that make you feel energized.
Notice how when you pursue your passions, it energizes you. It’s a great way to recharge your life force battery. You also feel purpose and joy when you follow your heart and soul. You feel like you’re in the flow of life, and you’re much more likely to be moving your body. Both are great for the lymphatic system.
Finally, when you give birth to the ideas you’ve been incubating for months or years, you are allowing your creative energy to flow. That’s good for the reproductive points, and your life force energy.
